Artist statement

I live in Highland, Indiana but grew up in Lansing, Illinois. I’ve always liked art. After high school I attended The American Academy of Art in Chicago studying Fine Art. After not being able to find a job in “Fine Arts” I became a display designer for Marshall Fields for many years. I later became interested in more hands on three dimensional art (such as basket weaving and gourd art) taught to me by my aunt who was my mentor.

Several years ago I started taking classes from Tom Torluemke and he encouraged me to try experimenting with watercolor and acrylics. I love working with watercolor and ink.
